CNCA/CNCC Lagoon Report:
There are thirty lagoons within Charleston National and our homeowners association is directly responsible for nineteen. As most everyone is aware, these lagoons are critical to our community’s infrastructure for stormwater runoff and retention, as well as golf course irrigation. Some lagoons
are over fifteen years old and in dire need of deepening, while others have uncontrolled vegetation growing around them and into them. Still others require mechanical repairs to their systems of pipes, risers and outfalls. Because of all this, our professional lake management contractor struggles to keep water quality acceptable in
several of the lagoons.
None of this is new information. What is new information is that the final repairs to CN 11 are complete. With this problem behind us, your Lagoon Committee and Board are in the process of
prioritizing and gathering quotes to perform the much-needed repairs and beautification to the rest of our lagoons. For those of you living close to a
pond, we ask for your continued patience. We must all realize this will be an ongoing project that will take substantial time and funding. Therefore, a timeline and budget are being
established as we receive quotes for various aspects of work to be performed. We are also continuing our partnership with the Golf Club in a
cooperative effort to restore some of the lagoons for which we share a mutual interest.
In addition, we kindly ask new residents living near a lagoon to please visit our community website and refer to the and download the
document titled Letter to Homeowners on lagoons Following the simple steps in the letter can dramatically impact the water
quality of your nearby lagoon. Thank you. Robert Kemp, Lagoon
Committee Chair Chair
